Explore Birds

The Rio Grande Valley is one of the top birding destinations in the country. More than 500 species of birds have been documented in this unique place. Many of the birds breed and nest here while others migrate through the valley. Birders can see species they can’t find anyplace else in the country like the Green Jay, Buff-bellied Hummingbird, Great Kiskadee, Plain Chachalaca, and Altamira Oriole.

Quinta Mazatlan is an attractive stop for a wide variety of species including both resident and migrant birds. There are over 230 species that have been documented at the McAllen Wing of the World Birding Center. The nature trail is accented with water features, feeding stations and rest areas for your enjoyment.
