Our weekly outdoor learning experiences are designed for youth to explore, engage, learn and play! Find a program which may interest your child! Please check the Calendar of Events for dates and times.
Forest Tots
• Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays
• Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
• Ages: 3yrs - 5yrs

• Program description: Drop in with your tot and participate in an Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE!) and nature-based driven curriculum where seasonal phenomena will be explored though story, sensory play, nature
art and walks through the forest.
Participants will:
• Develop an understanding of seasonal changes in the Rio Grande Valley by exploring plant and wildlife.
• Learn ecological processes through age appropriate activities.
• Practice stewardship and reciprocity through acts of service and kindness around our urban sanctuary.
• Gain confidence and autonomy through socialization between children of a similar age range and the ecological community.
• Generate a lasting and caring relationship with the more-than-human world, developing leadership and interest in civic engagement.
Art Afternoons
• Date: Every Wednesday & every third Saturday of the month.
• Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
• Ages: 8 +

• Program Description: Experience how the role, process and language of art can help spark curiosity and cultivate one’s “ecological self.”
Participant will:
• Explore different mediums of art from sketching to painting, upcycling, and creating art with nature!
• Learn about the works of different artists and environmentalists.
• Build a sense of relationship with place through creative practices using earth’s elements.
STEM Stops
• Date: Every Saturday
• Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm | 1:00pm - 2:00pm | 3:00pm-4:00pm
• Ages: Families & Children
• Fee: Free with Park Admission
• Program Description: Our drop-in STEM Stops offer unique guided interactive learning opportunities for everyone in the family! Explore seasonal phenomena through the lens of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic, and Art!
Participant will:
• Gain a better understanding of what happens within an ecological community.
• Explore what we can learn from nature’s structure and function.
• Embark on a guided trail walk through our Tamaulipan Thorn Forest, discovering native flora and fauna.
