Junior Naturalist Camp
The Junior Naturalist Camp is a three-day experience designed to introduce youth to the natural wonders of Quinta Mazatlán and the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
The camp concludes with a celebration and an introduction to the Quinta Mazatlán Junior Naturalist Initiative—a self-paced program that encourages youth to continue learning through educational programs, special events, and volunteer opportunities at Quinta. Participants will receive a Junior Naturalist tracker to guide their progress, and upon completing the program requirements, they will earn an official certificate and a special recognition item celebrating their commitment to nature and stewardship.
Camp Daily Schedule:
- 8:00am - 8:15 am - Camper Drop Off
- 8:30 am - 10: 00am - Camp Activities
- 10:00am - 10:30 am - Snack Break
- 10:30 am - 12:00pm - Camp Activities Continue
- 12:00pm - Camper Pick-up (last call 12:15pm)
Ages: 9-13 (age group I recommend to dive into deeper concepts)
Cost: $20 per child (Pre-registration required)

Day 1- Junior Naturalist Camp Orientation
Participants explore the history, habits, and hidden corners of Quinta while meeting educators and learning how to observe nature like a naturalist.
Day 2- Natural Treasures of the Rio Grande Valley
Day two expands outward to discover the incredible biodiversity of the Rio Grande Valley, including its unique ecological regions, native plant, birds, insects, and wildlife connections.
Day 3- Citizen Science and Stewardship
Campers explore the world of citizen science, discovering how they can collect data, contribute to real research, and make a meaningful impact in their own communities through stewardship and everyday actions that support wildlife.
