Walk with a Naturalist

Join an experienced naturalist on a tour of Quinta Mazatlan, where you’ll learn more about the park, get ideas for your garden, and enjoy seeing the wildlife of our forest and gardens.

Every year during Spring migration birds will be flying up north to their breeding grounds. When it comes to raptors they will be flying high! Learn what to look for when identifying flying raptors and other migrating and native birds.

Cha Dao Tea Ceremony

• Dates: March 28

Experience a quiet tea ceremony inspired by Cha Dao, The Way of Tea. Participants will sit together outdoors while tea is prepared and served in a slow, meditative style. Guests will enjoy oolong tea and tea from native plants while being gently guided to notice sensory experiences, connection to the Earth, and the natural environment around them. This program invites participants to slow down, observe nature, and cultivate mindfulness through tea.  

About your Host:

Valerie Guerrero is a local tea practitioner with a deep appreciation for tea as a mindful and grounding practice. Through the tradition of Cha Dao, Valerie enjoys sharing tea in community and drawing inspiration from nature and other seasons.

Gentle Movement in Nature April 1

 

Gentle Movement in Nature

Join Gina Laurenzi for Gentle Movement in Nature where participants will connect with the senses and engage in accessible movement in response to the surrounding natural environment. No prior dance experience necessary and all ages are welcome! Please bring a yoga mat. Bring a personal journal if you wish but instructor will have extra paper and art supplies to share.

iNaturalist Workshop

Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth

Community science projects make it easier than ever to learn about the plants and animals around, while also contributing important biodiversity data for science and conservation. Participants will learn about how to use iNaturalist, one of the most popular nature-based apps, to learn about the flora and fauna of the Rio Grande Valley.
