Thursday Night Live

Our weekly event series features a unique program every Thursday night, offering a diverse range of entertainment, workshops, and activities. Each week brings something new and exciting, ensuring there's always something for everyone to enjoy!

Walk with a Naturalist

• Date: Wednesdays - January 7- April 29
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Ages: Adults & Interested Youth
Join an experienced naturalist on a tour of Quinta Mazatlan, where you’ll learn more about the park, get ideas for your garden, and enjoy seeing the wildlife of our forest and gardens.

 

 

Birding for Beginners

• Dates: March 7, 13
Time: 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth
• Fee: Free with General Admission

From binocular basics to bird calls and behavior, you'll leave this guided experience feeling more in-tune with our avian friends. Across the month of March, we'll be looking for migratory birds, like the Red-Winged Blackbird and different kinds of Hawks, and hope to see some other rarities.

Plant ID class with Joey Santore

• Dates: March 7
Time: 2:00pm-3:30pm
Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth (Limited Capacity)
• Fee: Free with General Admission

This 90-minute workshop will teach you what features to look for when plant identifying, how to tell what family it belongs to, and how to use the iNaturalist app when id'ing. You will also learn why grouping plants by family is important and why this information is vital in understanding the plant. Some other beneficial information will include discussion about South Texas native plants and how they're are able to thrive in the intense heat of our region.

 

 

Forest Bathing

• Dates: March 20
Time: 8:30am-10:30am
Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth
• Fee: $5

Did you know Forest Bathing is a practice with many health benefits such as enhanced immunity, increased focus and reduction of stress? Slow down with a certified relational forest therapy guide for an immersive and accessible "agenda-free" experience with the more-than-human world. 

Please note: Your guide is not a therapist. Support for wellness, personal development, and perhaps healing comes to participants from their interaction with natural environments, through support of the guide to open sensory experiences.
