Walk with a Naturalist

Birding for Beginners
• Dates: March 7, 13
• Time: 8:30 am - 10:30 am
• Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth
• Fee: Free with General Admission
From binocular basics to bird calls and behavior, you'll leave this guided experience feeling more in-tune with our avian friends. Across the month of March, we'll be looking for migratory birds, like the Red-Winged Blackbird and different kinds of Hawks, and hope to see some other rarities.

Plant ID class with Joey Santore
• Dates: March 7
• Time: 2:00pm-3:30pm
• Ages: Adults and Older Interested Youth (Limited Capacity)
• Fee: Free with General Admission
This 90-minute workshop will teach you what features to look for when plant identifying, how to tell what family it belongs to, and how to use the iNaturalist app when id'ing. You will also learn why grouping plants by family is important and why this information is vital in understanding the plant. Some other beneficial information will include discussion about South Texas native plants and how they're are able to thrive in the intense heat of our region.
