March 17th - Native Flowers and Pollinators

Program Description: Learn what native pollinators love best with a QM Naturalist!

Spring welcomes a return of beautiful native blooms attracting pollinators like bees, birds, moths and butterflies! Join a guide to explore the importance of native plants, their co-evolution with pollinators and the reason for their scents and color!


 

March 18th - Bug Hunt

Program Description: Explore and Identify the critters hiding underneath leaves and logs.

Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! - These critters are crucial to the working ecosystem, from pollinating flowers to decomposing organic matter! Join a guide to learn the importance of insects native of our region, identifying native bugs, their habitat and exploring the diverse forms of mutualism between plants and insects.



March 19th - Common Native Birds

Program Description: Join a Quinta Mazatlan Naturalist for a Family Birding tour!

Join a guide for a Spring birding walk meant for beginners, families, and anyone interested in learning more about native avifauna. We're looking to spot common RGV birds like Inca Dove, Plain Chachalaca, Great Kiskadee and Green Jay, with hopes of seeing seasonal migratory birds like Broad-winged Hawk and Red-Winged Black Birds who increase in number this time of year.

 

March 20th - South Texas Trees

Program Description: Welcome Spring with a QM Naturalist and explore the fruiting and blooming trees of South Texas.

How many South Texas Native Trees can you identify? Join a guide to investigate trees native to the RGV, witness the changes they are experiencing this season, and learn their lore from ecological importance, cultural significance, and medicinal and edible uses.
